Evidence-Based Mental Health Interventions

The All Star Children’s Foundation (ASCF) clinical team is comprised of a multidisciplinary group of professionals with expertise and training in trauma-related disorders and evidence-based approaches to clinical care. Our clinical team meets and collaborates through daily huddles and weekly Multidisciplinary Team Meetings (MTMs) to anticipate and respond to the needs of children and families served by ASCF.  Our team is committed to evidence-based, trauma-informed, and family-focused approaches to care in order to understand and address the varied and complex impact of trauma on the families we serve.

Our clinical team is committed to delivering proven, evidence-based mental health interventions to address the impact of trauma on children’s emotional and behavioral functioning.

ASCF supports its clinicians in obtaining and maintaining advanced training and certification in evidence-based approaches for addressing childhood trauma. Members of our clinical team are certified in the following evidence-based trauma interventions:

  • Attachment, Regulation, and Competency (ARC)
  • Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP)
  • Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

In addition to evidence-based mental health intervention, we contract with local providers to offer children living on our campus the following services and supports free of charge:

  • Occupational Therapy (OT)
  • Psychological Evaluation
  • Psychiatric Evaluation and Medication Management
  • Speech-Language Evaluation and Therapy

All children who come into foster care and reside in an ASCF foster home receive the following services:

Multi-method, multi-informant comprehensive assessment

  • The impact of complex trauma on children and families is vast and diverse. As a result, our team assesses each child’s development across many domains of functioning known to be impacted by trauma, including mental health, physical health, academics, adaptive/independent living, social skills/peer support, and communication, among others.
  • As part of our assessment process, we invite and honor the perspectives of the child’s birth family, supportive adults, and other child-serving professionals (e.g., teachers, case managers, therapists, etc.).
  • The information obtained from comprehensive assessment is shared with children and families to foster understanding and guide treatment planning and service delivery.

Routine mental health monitoring (mental health check-ups)

Children and their caregivers participate in routine mental health check-ups at regular intervals to monitor children’s progress and response to interventions and supports while residing on our campus.

Weekly Multidisciplinary Team (MTM) staffings

ASCF’s multidisciplinary team meets weekly to review the needs of children served by our agency, assess their progress, and plan for necessary interventions and supports.

Comprehensive treatment and care planning

Given that trauma impacts the functioning of children and families across many areas, our team creates goals and works together to provide comprehensive services and supports to improve children’s overall resilience and well-being.
